Kabaddi Match: Lets meet at the arena!! Aa jao Dam Dikhane!!!

Kabaddi is one of the oldest sports of India.  It has been the national game of Bangladesh and Nepal. The game is a test of strength and unity. The game continues till the other team members oust the last player. The game tests ones mental, physical and interpersonal skills. The onus of one lies on other members hence the trust is the other key factor.

The statistical programming languages are on the same fighting arena. Lets look around us we have R, Python, SPSS, SAS, Stata among many other. Which one is the best?

1)We have problem statement on which analysis needs to be done any language can be used to build up on the solution as the languages are a tool whereas logic remains same behind these.
2)R is a free open courseware whereas others are costly in terms of licensing costs. Meanwhile R has been used most freely SAS/Stata is more powerful to handle more statistical languages and techniques.
3)R being free is the most documented and used for the research and testing purpose.

I would like to draw the attention towards the fact that the companies are global and are dealing with the variety of clients. Some firms use SAS some prefer Python whereas others are comfortable with SPSS.

The fight goes on but these languages are tools of a data scientist. Data scientist dons many hats and this language are like kabaddi players each having its own strengths and has different importance in terms of requirement at different business requirement.
Startups would prefer R, as the cost is low whereas for an organization SAS is more preferred in terms of use and budget is not a constraint.

A dose of hu tu tu !!! J

As mentioned a business today is described by the top line and bottom line ie revenue and the profit it makes. Analytics help in growing the business in terms of turnover and profit. Hence languages are a tool, which makes the analysis easier the choice of the language purely, depends on the business requirement of the firm. The decision depends on ease of use, budget, storage, and trained programmers, the kind of business problem among various other factors.
